Decoration for Your Home Theatre
The advancement in technology is making home theatre systems more popular. Here are a few tips on creating the best home theatre system for your home. Creating a great home entertainment system is more than just the components; you first have to design the space around it to get the best viewing ambiance.
First, location. Make sure you have the least amount of interruption form outside light if possible. The best is a basement or a room with the least amount of windows. You can cover the windows with drop down shades and dark, heavy curtains. Home improvement stores offer “black-out” curtains and shades.
Your walls should also be covered with dark colors is a great idea but is not completely necessary. Darker walls will help the room have a darker effect and if you use a matte finish it will keep the light from shining on them. Floor treatments can be dark as well to keep the effect going. Dark grays, dark browns and deep reds are great. Just remember, you will have to live in this room when you’re not watching tv and want the windows open so pick colors you are comfortable with day and night.
Have good lighting for when you are not watching tv that won’t distract you when you are watching tv. Dimmers are a great option, they offer great transition from dark to light and if they are recessed they won’t distract you during movies.
Seating is another important decision to make. Decide what kind of crowd you will be entertaining on a regular basis. Kids seem to do better on couches, they fight over single seats. Couches are also great for couples to lounge on. Recliners are great for the older crowd and more comfortable and usually have handy drink holders. It’s better to have too many seats than not enough. But you make do with what you have in the budget, but make room for later additions. Ottomans and love seats are a great alternative to recliners.
A great coffee table or end tables set around the room for drinks and snacks. A wet bar is a great idea with a mini fridge to avoid having to leave the room. A small microwave would also be a hit for popcorn or nachos, but remember lighting will be an issue in the dark home theater room so it must have it’s own dimmer lighting source to not disturb the whole room. This will make for the best room in the house, even in the neighborhood.
